I wasn't reading vampires for a while and "A Shade of Vampire" was a good one to return. The Prince Derek Novak was sleeping over 300 years and he's woken up due to increasing threats to their kind. He has a weakly control on his hunger and he couldn't know what to do when he saw Sofia Claremont, a slave kidnapped for him. She was ultimately beautiful, Derek didn't realize but something changed inside of him at the moment.
Sofia was frightened at first. Her kidnapper Lucas, Derek's brother, was some kind of psyco and demanding vampire. Because of that her first goal was escaping from him. But after seeing Derek, she was impressed though she doesn't want to admit. But she's still determined to run. She tries but of course she couldn't make it, Derek stops him. She thought she'll be punished but Derek seems to forget about this. Of course he warns her but still se doesn't feel like she's been brutalized. After some time with the other girls and Derek, she starts to feel like "The Shade", home of vampires, is becoming her new home.
But of course, things are changing. Lucas becomes a big danger, he kills one of the girls and want Sofia for him. Sofia's best friend Ben is coming to The Shade as a woman vampire's slave. Derek falls in love for her, Sofia falls in love for him but they never accept it till the events of the end of the book.
I liked the story. It was good, because not that easy like she fell for him, he fell for him then they lived happily ever after. In the upcoming books, the thrill will improve I think. And thanks to the author for this read.
